My series Cairo Divided will be shown alongside Corrine Silvia and Omar Fast’s film. The festival runs for a month and has some excellent exhibitions including work by Trevor Paglen & Edmund Clark.

Was also very excited that the festival printed a second run of the free newspaper publication ‘Cairo Divided’ which will be available from the gallery space.

I will also be doing a talk alongside Guardian journalist David Batty and artist Ronnie Close on the 6th October, the opening weekend.

Maputo is probably one of my favourite cities, highly recommend a visit.

The fund is split between 6 artists living and working in Johannesburg and will result in a large exhibition of our work this October at a new gallery space in Johannesburg. This kind support will help continue my project on Johannesburg’s Tailing’s Dams.

You can see the final tearsheet on my website, but below I have included some rough scans from the contact sheets. I’m yet to do my own scans and as soon I do I will put the story up in my assignments section and let y’all know.

You can read about the event here. They will also soon be featuring the publication in an online shop. But stocks of the publication are running very low. We now only have 300 copies left from the 5000 we printed in November, which is unbelievable!

The publication has had an amazing life since it’s launch with copies being sent all over the world including distribution with in the corridors of the EU in Brussles, over 20 universities and institutions, 25 galleries and book shops, 4 festivals and over 700 individual online orders.

I need to do a huge shout out to Katie Higson who has been so instrumental in the production and distribution of publication. If you need any help with upcoming projects/shoots/research, reach out to her, she’s brilliant.

The free publication combines 30 of my images from the series, and a 6000 word essay by Jack Shenker. Cairo Divided is also a dual language publication as all text has been translated into arabic.

It’s beautifully art directed and designed by James at Realise Creative, as well as help from Harry Hardie (Panos & Here) and Francesca Sears (Panos) as well as lots of other people along the way.
